The case of Chris Kaba
Nikos Sampanis, 18 years old, was killed by the Greek police on October 22, 2021 in Perama, in West Athens. Officers of the DIA motorized unit pursued the stolen car, in which Nikos was a passenger, against clear orders from police headquarters. After the vehicle was immobilized, the policemen fired 38 bullets. In the audio recordings of the chase, which have been released, racist/romaphobic language was used.
Ibrahima Bah, 19 years old, died during a traffic control in Villiers-le-Bel (95) in northern Paris. Eyewitnesses report that the police vehicle tried to ram the motorbike Ibrahima was riding. He was forced to make a dangerous manoeuvre, which resulted in him crashing into an adjacent pole and losing his life. An adjacent camera appears to have the entire incident, however to date the video has not been released.
Chris Kaba, 24, was killed on 5 September 2022 after being shot by a police officer in Streatham Hill, south London. The car,driven by Chris, had been flagged by an automatic number plate recognition camera as a vehicle linked to a firearms incident in the previous days. No firearms were found in the vehicle or at the scene, apart from those of the police.

Chris Kaba, 24, was killed on 5 September 2022 after being shot by a police officer in Streatham Hill, south London. The car,driven by Chris, had been flagged by an automatic number plate recognition camera as a vehicle linked to a firearms incident in the previous days. However, it has now emerged from the investigation into his death that Chris was not a suspect and that police officers followed him without ever activating their lights or sirens. No firearms were found in the vehicle or at the scene, other than those of the police.
